2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Drivetrain

The TurboMax, 5.3L V8, and Duramax engines are all available with either two-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD), while the 6.2L V8 is exclusively built with 4WD. Power from the TurboMax engine flows to the rest of the drivetrain through an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the other three engines get a ten-speed automatic transmission. 

Most trims — including the High Country, LTZ, LT Trail Boss, RST, and Custom Trail Boss — feature a standard automatic-locking rear differential with an Eaton® locker to help maximize traction in slick conditions. The off-road-oriented ZR2 trim features a driver-selectable full-locking differential on both the front and rear axles that allow you to decide when you want the front and rear wheels turning together at the same speed.
